Holding grudges over mild misunderstandings
I still read “young adult” novels, they are clearly aimed at kids/teens but they are short and I can read them leisurely over a couple of days.
What are you reading? Here are a couple of novels that I’ve grown quite fond of. Common to all of them are that they are freely (and legally) available online; I am not in any way affiliated with them; and they strongly feature female lead characters.
- Worm - An introverted teenage girl with an unconventional superpower, Taylor goes out in costume to find escape from a deeply unhappy and frustrated civilian life. Her first attempt at taking down a supervillain sees her mistaken for one. […] Taylor faces the dilemma of having to do the wrong things for the right reasons. (Warning: this is longer than LotR and has a wi(l)der array of superpowers than Marvel.)
- Ra - Discovered in the 1970s, magic is now a bona fide field of engineering. There’s magic in heavy industry and magic in your home. It’s what’s next after electricity.
- Little Brother by Cory Doctorow - In the aftermath of a terrorist attack on the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge and BART system, four teenagers defend themselves against the Department of Homeland Security’s attacks on the Bill of Rights. (Note: This is a contemporary analogue to Orwell’s 1984.)
Warning: this is longer than LotR
Watching animated movies made for kids. It doesn’t matter to me as long as it’s quality.
I don’t watch it myself but my parents often said how much they enjoyed it. Most of the time tge writers also add some jokes meant for adults.

Video games and shows meant for younger audiences.
I watch Miraculous Ladybug and Captain Underpants on Netflix with my son but I don’t always turn it off when he leaves the room…

Blowing bubbles! They just look amazing and you can practice and there’s so many possibilities.
I’m old enough to have adult children (hypothetically) and I still fucking love sugary breakfast cereal. Every grocery store trip involves a good 3-5 minutes staring at it all, trying to find the perfect intersection of craving and sale price to fill my bowl for the next week or two.
I ride my bmx around for hours. I’m almost 40.
My love for toys, still very much enjoy entering and browsing a toy store, even though they are becoming rare these days.
still love chewing gum

Also, flying kites.
