Had my yearly physical. I quit drinking almost two years ago, and I’m in perfect health for a 52 year old.

20 lbs lighter, cholesterol is great, liver enzymes are all normal…

I literally have nothing to work on, other than to keep doing what I’m doing.

I’m so thankful I finally managed to quit.

Dude, that’s so kick ass! It’s people like you and posts like these that help give me hope and motivation to keep going.

Beginning of this year I went to the hospital for Delerium Tremens and not being able to sleep for three days straight. I needed help detoxing and needed to get bloodwork done. I was really worried about my liver and kidneys. Things were pretty bad but not awful and recoverable.

I’ve had my slipups, but it’s been about two months completely sober for me and maybe a couple weeks total drinking out of the past 6 months. I’ve lost 20lbs (need 25 more). Also my last blood tests a couple months ago showed me recovering. I can only hope to be where you are in another year and a half.

    Congrats again!

You can do it, you really can. I tried to get quitting to stick so many times. I tried off and on for years until I didn’t have to try any longer.

Oh how I wish I lost 20 pounds. I think I’m down 10 in the last two years. But I’m getting old and my hormones are working against me now.

Yeah, I can imagine. It’s been slower than when I was in my 20s for sure and I’m sure it will continue to slow down. That’s one of the reasons I’m trying to get my shit sorted now! lol. I’ve been hitting the gym and lifting too tho so hopefully some of my not losing weight is my body recompositioning itself. But yeah, women’s bodies and their hormones are super crazy and complicated. At least we aren’t wasting all our calories on nutritionally empty alcohol!!
