  • I think it depends from the motherboard. My 8th gen Intel Lenovo always update and reboot (and get to the lock screen) when I say update and shutdown while a gigabyte 6th gen Intel always update and shutdown (one reboot during the update install)

And if you dual boot and have Linux set as main, “update and shutdown” means “reboot to Linux”

  • Let me guess which experts will get hired in their places

One will be a 22 years old gardener with 4 years of extensive research on vaccines on various forums

Another one will be someone with a master’s degree in arts but with ten years experience on bashing against vaccines on sitter

Then there will be an high school dropout that became rich selling supplements on a website that is advocating using chlorine as eyedrop

Finally some stay at home mom with 5 years of experience selling essential oils, specialized in curing any kind of disease, even terminal cancer

  • In my city we finally decided to install a tram line over a long avenue. Do you know that “classic” 4 lanes avenue where one lane on each side is practically reserved for assholes to “temporarily park” with hazard lights blinking?

So it becomes from 4 2 lanes to 2 lanes + tram. Win, right? I read an article about a sports goods store where the owner says “we decided to close shop now (when the tram construction isn’t even started) because next year without the space for customers to park (there isn’t now) how we could we continue business?”

  • It is very expensive for their pride.

Those billionaires don’t actually have the money ready in cash, just a tiny part of that is liquid, everything is in stocks. They are getting paid in stocks from their company. Why? Because until you’re selling the stocks, for the government you don’t have a revenue to tax. Suppose this year you get a salary of $100 billion in stocks. If you convert in cash only $100k, then the tax owed that year is minuscule. Those assholes have teams dedicated to minimize the amount of taxes owed. It is why he didn’t use his money to buy xitter but used his stock and “genius CEO” fame as a collateral to persuade banks and other arab investors to lend the money for him (and hold the bag if it sank)

So in order to donate that quarter of a billion he had to liquidate stocks and pay taxes on that. Ouch, so so much painful for a billionaire. For them paying taxes is like being robbed. So, it’s more like paying $20k for you
