Woah were did all that nostalgia suddenly come from?

Nice, I didn’t even know I wanted that. It’s not on my Nightly though, unfortunately.
It reads to me like the idea is to avoid sending data to search engines?

Firefox@lemmy.ml•Mozilla to Require Data-Collection Disclosure in All New Firefox Extensions
9·16 days agoI believe it was already required to disclose data collection, except you had to build the UI for that yourself. This makes it easier to comply, and more recognisable for us users.

Firefox@lemmy.ml•Firefox's New Profile Manager Goes Live For Everyone Next Week
2·22 days agoAs far as I know you’ll still be able to use the old one. Presumably it won’t see much love, but I don’t think it hasn’t seen much love for years anyway.
That said, you probably won’t see those old profiles in the new profile manager, but if you’re happy with your current setup that doesn’t sound like much of a problem.
Wait, what’s wrong (or AI) about that quoted sentence?

Web Development@programming.dev•Do you already use @layer in your code?
4·1 month agoIt’s been a while, so I’m not sure about the details, but I had some elements on our website that I wanted to show when our extension was installed, and hide if not. I think I used layers, and then had the extension move the layer priority order. Was a clean way to fence off the extension-specific code.
Note: this comic was first published Feb 8 2025, shortly after Trump made his “Riviera of the Middle East” comments. The comic just won a prize, which is probably why it was reposted now, but the context is relevant.
By “auto-grouping” you mean that it groups when you drag and drop, but you still want it available in the context menu? You could set
browser.tabs.dragDrop.createGroup.delayMSinabout:configto a very high number - then you’ll have to hold one tab over the other for a long time before it actually offers to group them.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Sonetimes i feel like its a lot of work to stick with linux
51·2 months agoThis is so true. It’s been good enough for me for so many years at this point, and yet it just keeps getting better. The whole experience is so much nicer now than it was years ago, which was better than years before that, etc.
(That said, better hardware also helps a lot.)

Linux@programming.dev•Techrights — statCounter Sees GNU/Linux Exceeding 10% in Bulgaria This Month
2·2 months agoI can live with that, although I’ll also note that the sample size is biased.

51·2 months agoAuto-reminder that StatCounter is garbage and these articles are almost always about statistical noise, not actual behavioural change.

Linux@programming.dev•Bazaar Is the Flatpak Store GNOME Always Needed
122·2 months agoI was pretty excited to try Bazaar, but UX-wise I feel like GNOME-software is way less overwhelming and thus easier to use - even though it’s not great. And startup speed for Bazaar is still pretty slow, even though IIRC speed was supposed to be one of its selling points.
Still great to see people to try to innovate, and it’s still pretty young, so definitely something to keep an eye on. But I was overhyped.

Linux@programming.dev•Bazaar Is the Flatpak Store GNOME Always Needed
5·2 months agoDoesn’t the same hold for distributions repackaging software? Surely most developers don’t maintain their own Debian packages, Fedora rpms, Arch whatever-their-name-is’s, etc?

Firefox@fedia.io•Mozilla Firefox Is Officially Getting MKV Video Support
5·2 months agoInitially the copy-paste went wrong and I pasted a different link that happened to be on my clipboard, but I believe I updated it it straight after - so not sure why you still saw the other one (I assume). Maybe Fedia doesn’t understand edits? But wait, this is an edit - can you see this?
Here’s the link I meant to post again though: https://github.com/mozilla/standards-positions/pull/1064

5·2 months agoCould be coming at some point: https://npo.nl/start/serie/nos-journaal/seizoen-25_4/nos-journaal_100709/afspelen
Ha, if that’s your first association, I think that might say more about you than about the phone :P
(Which is not a bad thing.)

Ah cool, thanks! Unfortunately it looks like that’s only for the simple toolbar, and only a single shortcut. I’d love to at least replace the “Favourite” button with a “Forward” button on my second toolbar, but maybe later.
