Formerly @[email protected]. Hello everybody!

That is in fact Sam Reich’s dad. Less importantly, he is also former secretary of labor.

I’m not an electrician but I’ve been in a similar spot. If you have non computer stuff that has a ground prong, you can replace a two prong receptacle with a 3 prong GFCI outlet and not hook up the ground. You just need to lable the outlet as “No equipment ground”. GFCI outlets generally come with these stickers since it is a common retrofit. If you hook it up right, any outlet that is GFCI protected downstream could be replaced with a 3 prong receptacle without a ground and would have to be labeled “GFCI protected” and “No equipment ground”. Even though there isn’t a ground, you are protected from electric shock by GFCI. You shouldn’t plug a computer into an outlet like that since computers use ground to filter noise from their power supply and require an equipment ground. If you need an equipment ground, you would need to talk to an electrician.
I remember hearing about System76 a while back. They manage Pop!_OS which comes preloaded on their stuff. I don’t know much more than that. If you are mainly looking to replace your laptop because you don’t want to switch to 11, you could always try out Linux on it with a live USB. Basically you format a thumb drive to act as a boot drive. There are resources online on how to do it and it’s pretty simple. It doesn’t mess with your current install. If you like it, you can fully install it later.

It’s a little more than kind of depressing but Bullet by Hollywood Undead comes to mind.

It’s more than just a water level issue. As I understand it, the Amoc is responsable for warmer water cycling up to the coasts of western Europe resulting in warmer temperatures than they would normally get at that latitude. It would change the temperature and weather experienced there. Hank Green did a video talking about how it could potentially affect Ireland about a month ago.

I think that’s true for the arts in general. Unless you are both extraordinary talented and are able to get lots of people to recognize that talent it’s hard to make a living in the arts. Art is a wonderful thing to be passionate about, and it is an important part of life and society despite how some people tend to downplay its value. It’s rarely stable work. There is a reason why there are tropes like the starving artist or actors waiting tables.

Just keep in mind you can run into issues with some of the highest capacity cards. There are limits to how much music an ipod can handle depending on the generation which aren’t immediately obvious. Dankpods mentioned it in one of his older videos.

If you’re on a Mac, I think ipods are still recognized and you can use their software to sync and manage music. You can only sync over music you own so no apple music obviously.

FiiO makes some pretty good stuff. I love my BTR5 to use with some of my wired headphones. I recently bought an Echo Mini cause I liked the retro look and wanted something dead simple to just play music and it’s just ok. No support for playlists which is interesting. It also has a hard limit of around 8000 songs. Their android based stuff seems popular though.
Man, I love the colors on the Heavyarms Custom. Looks great!

I wasn’t saying lightning couldn’t get lint. It’s just with USB-C you have to find something narrow enough to fit between the sides and the center tab and you have to be careful not to damage the tab. I just feel the lightning port looks easier to clean out. It may be me just venting my recent frustration. I was seriously considering getting a new phone.

Are you sure it’s the middle piece getting loose? I recently thought that was the problem with my phone before I tried to scrape out any lint that might be in it with a pin. Now the cable seats better and it works fine. I think that is a bit of a flaw of USB-C in devices that are expected to be put in pockets or thrown around in bags. It’s easy for lint to get in and difficult to get it out without potentially damaging the socket. I wonder if we should have gone with something using a similar form factor to lightning but the speed and charging abilities of USB-C.

You can also spike the brain of the fish. There’s stuff online about Ikejime which is supposed to be a way to quickly kill the fish to improve the quality of the meat. There’s resources online about it.
I can’t be too harsh on them. I’m pretty sure I new Sam Reich before his father too. Dropout has been getting popular. They did an episode of Breaking News where Robert got a short snippet to poke fun at his son.
