You don’t really have to use Rust to develop Tauri project unless you’re doing the front-end in Rust. Are you using leptos or something? Leptos can be very tricky when you try to do something not very standard in it. Other than that, I didn’t struggle that much with Tauri. You can do most things with basic Rust.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just take a release calendar from 20 years ago, look what movie was released on what day and release remakes in the same order?

Next year we would see Pirates of the Caribbean remake, new Harry Potter, new Spider Man, new Shrek, new Transformers, I Am Legend remake, new Simpsons movie and 300 remake, among other things. So pretty much nothing would change but planning would be way easier.

They will just slow down right before it. It will be great for people living right next to it but wont solve the issue.

The proper solution would be to de legalize modified exhausts. Both sales and possession. Treat it like fireworks or other socially harmful things. If you stop someone riding with one you charge them with possession. You look for workshops that install them and charge them with possession. You look for stores that sell them and charge them with sales.

The nice thing about it is that you don’t really have to look for them like for drugs. You can hear to from kilometers away, just part next to highway and stop the obvious offenders. Small fine for first time offenders and huge one for re-offenders. That’s what they did in Singapore and it’s working.

I’m all for it but unfortunately majority of people would vote out any politician that proposes something like that. And politicians know it.

The other reasons are just more symptoms of the same thing: being out of touch with the people. Party leaders keep talking about how MAGA are hypocrites or how right wing legal theories are flawed like it’s going to convince anyone to stop voting for Trump. It won’t.

It’s not about how many things people bitch about. It’s about the pushback any environmental policy is facing from people. If people bitch for years and years about straws imagine how will they react to something significant like limiting beef. Those grievances are what populists use to gain power. If you push too hard people will vote you out and revert all progress (like Trump). So we’re stuck because no one is willing to sacrifice anything and you can’t really force anyone.

Yeah, I think hoping that arguments about incoherent ideologies will sway voters is exactly why democrats keep losing.

Yes but if people bitch that much about straws imagine how much they would bitch if you tried to do anything meaningful like limit beef consumption or long distance flying. If you even mention anything like that as a recommendation (“experts say eating more than 10kg of beef per day is not sustainable”) people freak out (“they want us to eat bugs!!!1”).

I get it that people expect the rich to sacrifice first but the sad fact is they have the real power and can fight any attempts to limit their emissions. NY mentioned taxing private jets and they immediately came up with plans to move to chartering and change residency. You tax them in NY and they escape to stupid Texas because for them it’s easy. So people basically say “we’re not going to agree to anything that affects us until you achieve the impossible task of completely changing the entire system” and nothing gets done. We have been stuck in this “all or nothing” standoff for decades and it looks like we will be stuck until everything collapses.

You know paper straws were introduced to limit littering? We simply don’t need that much single use plastics in the environment.

I’ve been using Firefox for decades without issues. Yes, Chrome was a better browser for a long time but Firefox wasn’t that far behind and was absolutely fine browser to use.

Do you really think Mozilla could win browser race with Google, the fucking second biggest company in the world? Of course Chrome had more features, it had basically unlimited resources at it disposal. But yeah, let’s blame Mozilla for not winning with them decisively.

YOU are shooting yourself in the foot. You abandoned Firefox for couple of features and soon you will be browsing the web with ads. Come back and tell me how extremely useful Chrome’s features are when can you no longer skip Youtube ads.
