Tracking inventory is literally one of its primary use cases.

The default channel is usually populated enough and I think nodes relay other channels using lora too.
My range to the next node is 7 miles.
AirTags work but chirp and thieves know to dump them.

61·19 hours agoCould California simply sink ships and rigs and say it was terrorists or drug cartel?
Buy a few t1000 to see how it works and if you have any other nodes in your area. If you do you’ll have decent coverage.
The t1000 doesn’t have amazing battery life but I think there’s devices that are dedicated to gps tracking that last a lot longer.
I have helium nodes near me. Not sure how blockchain fits in, but they offer money if you donate your wifi or LoRa, and you can buy service to use that wifi or LoRa.
I like the idea but WiFi doesn’t have the range to be very useful except maybe in an apartment building.
Meshtastic. Be sure to set it up to not broadcast your precise position over the default channel.
Here is an example.

politics @lemmy.world•Sanders calls deal to end government shutdown a "disaster"
61·1 day agoBecause insurance doesn’t work like a normal product or good.
What ends up happening is they charge as much as they possibly can. The book “an American sickness” explains all the problems if you’re interested.
The ACA was never going to be great. It was the best that could get passed.
Does not scale well.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump administration tells states to ‘undo’ full SNAP benefits
50·3 days agoWhile I can sort of understand the argument that when the government is shut down it makes food distribution more difficult.
But I can’t understand a government actively taking action to prevent food distribution by entities that are working around the shutdown.
- Isn’t this what supposed to be conservatives want: local government and communities more in control while less bureaucratic involvement at the federal level.
- people need food. Is the Republican Party actively trying to start a revolt? Forcing people to organize against the State for food safety has precedents.

2·6 days agoAssuming she’ll live another 10 years, and assuming her net worth minimum estimation of $265m, she’d have to spend over $37,000 per day while not eating interest to be half as rich in 10 years.
Can you imagine spending $37k per day for a decade and still have over $100,000,000? At 95???

2·6 days agoYou can tell just by the fan noise or monitoring cpu usage. Win 11 uses more cpu regularly.
I’m not sure if it’s bad, because they changed other things too like the start menu, and it’s less responsive.
Single app performance is about the same as 10.
