Sort of. Be a decent person and treat others with decency. If something indecent is about to happen or happening to you or others, do your best to stop it or seek justice, by appropriate means for the situation. Don’t kill someone who threw water at you or kicked your truck.

Batmancer@sh.itjust.worksto News@lemmy.world•Capitol police chief Thomas Manger says Trump's pardon of Jan. 6 rioters was "probably one of my worst days in this job"1·1 month agoI have similar thoughts on this. I worked on a homeless prevention coalition with county officials, the nonprofit I worked at, other nonprofits, local hospital officials, local homeless housing services officials, and the local police department, Nueces county PD of Corpus Christi, tx. The majority of police I worked with seemed to really care for the local population, homeless or otherwise. I had the misfortune of one day working with an absolute doofus of a human being. He had on big dark sunglasses(to hide how scared he was I’m sure) and carried himself in a very authority demanding demeanor. He was not helpful in any way that day when we went out to the homeless encampments to do outreach services, which is informing the public of the city and county services available to them. Most of the people I approached said, that guys a bad person he comes here and harasses us even though the city said we have until (future date) to vacate the property. I spoke with my colleagues about him on the coalition, not in a grievance form sort of way just like wow get a load of that guy! They agreed with me about their coworker and told me some other stuff that supported my judging of this person. For a long time I supported the idea of ACAB because if my coworker was doing something harmful to others I would stop them and do everything I could to prevent it. So I blamed other cops for being complicit in the practice like the ACAB idea supports. Now I hold conflicting opinions on it. I think there is a benefit of having a decent person being a public official and enforcer of the law, regardless that they choose to work alongside psychologically unfit and/or violent individuals who abuse the position. Perhaps they keep showing up to work because they work alongside them. I’m still unsure overall but I do know police save lives sometimes. I think all public offices need strict accountability.
Batmancer@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If all your basic needs were met and you didn't have to work to get by, what would you do with your life?2·2 months agoHaha I like to be silly at work sometimes after I’ve already paid the big monthly expenses. I say, “I’m here to do two things help kids and pay bills, and I’m all outta bills.” I would continue to work in my field on a part time basis. Then I would make time for a few doctor appointments and start going to therapy again. I’d walk my dog at different parks more often. Hopefully id make more time with my friends and family assuming they have the same deal. I would want to be more involved with my community too.

I’m trying not to laugh too hard so my family doesn’t ask me what I’m laughing at.
I feel like it’s how my gut flora aren’t responsible for my actions or anything but will suffer my choices and others’ choices involving me.

I’m happy to hear the technology exists though.
I loved being in a single player game and contributing to roads, bridges and stuff, and being able to yell out “My names Sam!” Or responding “Hey my names Sam too!”
I don’t know… I always think about that part looking back on it. We were doing ecstasy. I think we had like not a specific communal bottle but like someone’s was over somewhere and one by the computer.
I’m breaking the vow by talking about it but…
A few friends and I were all doing drugs late one winter night and staying hydrated as responsible drug users sometimes do.
The cold had us all sniffly and hacking.
We spat into an empty water bottle.
Sweet Hank was at the computer picking the next jam and reached for what he thought was his water, took a swig, returned the swig, and said, “We’re just not gonna talk about that.”
Hank went to the bathroom, returned, and we continued, honoring Sweet Hank’s request.
I couldn’t tell you what went through his mind when the viscous liquid hit but he carried on like a champion.

I have big motivation issues. For me a set of push-ups everyday was enough to start building a bit of a routine for a while. Eventually it was 100 a day and sometimes I’d do sit-ups or squats too.

Batmancer@sh.itjust.worksto Bikini Bottom Twitter@lemmy.world•Gotta use the budget on something I guess4·7 months agoExactly. I wanted to say at my last job that was education based and worked in schools but not for the school district directly. My supervisors and the district would ask if there was anything the team needed. I would always lead with raises and incentives for the clients but they would straight up tell me that they can only get me things that would fall under technology and electronic aid equipment and to try to think of anything that could qualify. They gave me a laptop that I didn’t want and never used, the office did get a ps4 and Xbox one for the kids to play(I beat so many at risk teens at UFC) but we were able to get better mileage reimbursement from .50 to .65
This is a lovely picture. Sorry if I’m being a bother but it looks like there is some mail with identifying info in the photo and I wanted to let you know in case you did not want that.
