I think armor that makes you blind might just give your opponent time to figure out where you’re not wearing armor.
He’s suppressing his immense power with the mask. The fights are no longer fun if he can see.
I think if someone I was about to fight to the death purposely covered their eyes I would probably start getting scared.
That mask is just for training to use the force.
