God I feel this so much

The main issue is over the years I’ve gathered so much knowledge about so many subjects I can basically go on a tangent like a champion

Tangents are my jam. Do you also connect the most random topics together? It’s always funny when someone talks about electrical engineering, and I chip in with the comment that it reminds me I should up my caloric intake

        Oh hell yeah

And sometimes even make multiple jumps from one topic to another waiting for the next moment to talk.

Or in the case of when a few of my buddies and I hang out we will talk for hours and our topics will be as wide as the ocean and as deep as a puddle. Or the opposite, as deep as the ocean and as wide as a puddle.

Explaining the connection while seeing the other person progressively lose more faith in humanity is never a dull moment.

X reminds of 6 reminds me of b reminds me of reminds me of 278 reminds me of d€1hG reminds me of π÷s8Ga&j

So very clearly, X has everything to do with π÷s8Ga&j

            Straight up facts

Literally had a newer friend ask me once how I got on a topic, I explained it and in the process of explaining it queued up a new topic that I just kinda slid in at the end like it was always there and pivoted again.

They looked at me flabbergasted and said, “Nevermind, I guess we’re talking about public transit now.” And the convo continued until our break was over.

Those are the best conversations. Well, as long as the other person is willing to keep up and isn’t thrown off completely.

The funniest thing is that I even make the simplest and most logical things unnecessarily complicated.

The other day, the word deer reminded me I wanted to look up telezoom lenses. Well, I’m into nature photography, the conversation even started with photography, so that makes sense without any detours, right?

              Haha

                Makes total sense to me.

I’m also into nature photography though I haven’t gotten any great shots with my telephoto lens really. It’s bloody hard to line it up not to mention focus it. I’m getting better but it can still be tough.

Now close ups, portraits, and landscapes are my jam.

I hike a lot (probably too much) and drag my camera gear with me almost every time unless I’m spelunking.

I usually just shoot the birds in my backyard with mine, anything further away doesn’t work because the flange focal lenght doesn’t match. Old manual lens adapted to a DSLR.

Oh yeah, I think this is where the deer comes in. I saw one while on a walk, but it was too far away for me to focus on it. I’ll need to get me a mirrorless camera to eliminate the flange problem with those old lenses.

“…so that character came in the third season, but actually they were an extra in the first season, so it’s kind of like…hey…are you leaving? To the bathroom? Oh ok, let me follow. So, as I was saying, they became a member of the fulltime cast in the third…oh it’s ok, there’s a partition next to the urinal, I can’t see anything. So, like I said, they only came in the third season, but they wanted to be in the second season, but the producer at the time had a grudge…hey…where are you going? A stall? Oh ok, well you can still hear me, so let’s find two side-by-side stalls. So anyway, wait until you hear what happened once the fourth season started…”

Because it’s way more precise than pouring liquids into a beaker (which can be off by 10%), much easier to judge than bending down to judge a level, and since with water 1 ml == 1g (yeah, metric system helps…) fairly easy to calculate. All other liquids commonly used are close enough.

Also what the fuck is 3 cups of flour/rice/salad (?!) even supposed to mean. Loosely packed? Compressed?

Yep, measuring by weight is the only way to get consistent results for bread dough.

The density of flour seems to change based on weather and humidity levels, so trying to measure by volume is pointless.

1ml of distilled water in perfect conditions = 1g … but it’s still close enough most of the time to not matter. Other liquids could be off by larger margins.

Yes! Omg…people ask me what they think is a simple question about said hobby completely unaware of the absolute storm that is about to be unleashed upon them. For example, someone asks me a simple how do you keep this plant alive…well you now are going to learn where it is native too, what the climate is like, it’s life cycle and blooming characteristics, its evolution and taxonomy, pollinators and oh don’t forget about the diseases and pests it gets and oh! Let’s talk about soil chemistry…and mushrooms! Fungus are fascinating and network with plants…anyways, you get the idea. And suddenly they are trying to exit the conversation, and im like wait nooo, i have more. 😆

my friend has seen me do this to so many people and she just sits there with an amused look when she knows it’s about to happen. So glad someone gets entertainment out of it.

I had that at work. Except my hyper focus solved an issue they’ve been dealing with for months. Now my superior comes to me every time I see him and thanks me again. It’s been over a month.
