There was an election in the DPRK for provincial, city and county people’s assemblies. The candidates had already been nominated and approved by the people beforehand. Turnout was 99.63% due to people working abroad as well as like one person who didn’t vote. Approval was almost unanimous. Contrary to popular belief, the DPRK has four political parties and independent politicians, making it more diverse than the very boring US political scene.

If anyone has more information about how candidates are chosen and discussed, as well as the efforts during election day that allow for such a high turnout (mandatory voting in liberal countries yields results that are a bit lower) then please chime in.
i am once again urging anyone who hasn’t done so read anna louise strong’s reporting from korea in the interwar years.
Socialist leaders love getting their picture taken on election day! So why don’t you tankies ??
Clearly it’s all fake and he’s just going to elect himself to every position, I’ve been told by my good friends at the RFA that he makes it illegal for anyone else to hold any political office at all and just does all of the work of governing the country entirely by himself!
Unfortunately, Kim Jong Un is an electoralist.
He has two ballots in his hands. Literal voter fraud.
I know there’s the workers party, the Social Democratic party, and the Chondoist League, being the 3 main parties, but what’s the 4th?
I’ve looked at DPRK election results over the years, and (when it’s not western BS just saying the Democratic Front won 98% of the seats with no actual party background, cuz muh one party state) there’s occasionally a very small party called the Buddhist League that gets 1 or two seats, if any, every few election cycles.
Beyond that, are we considering the 4th party the Chongryon, Which is the organization that represents Koreans in Japan? I know they send delegates to the DPRK Legislature, but I don’t see them represented on DPRK party distribution charts, typically.
Yes I counted Chongryon. I didn’t actually do my research. 💀
