The worst part is when you both feel lonely and have no social energy, so you just have to sit there and stew in your own misery.

Also: this is my comment #69, so I am now fulfilling my contractual obligation to draw attention to it.

I do not get lonely ever. I only sometimes miss particular people. But having other people as substitution would not relieve me missing those people.

    I lucked into a balance.

WFH, so I miss the social interaction. But hell, I WFH, so I got that going for me.

My wife works at a hotel, mostly gone during my workday. She gets human interaction, but leaves me the hell alone when I need it.

She works Saturday, so I go to my camp in the swamp and act a fool all alone. She’s off Sunday, so we can be together Saturday night and all day Sunday.

Of course that’s something an Emo Bean would say.

Just kidding, I totally agree with you. Being lonely is a part of human condition. It’s not great to be lonely for long stretches of time, but it’s inevitable to feel alone sometimes, and that’s OK.

      Maaaaybe…

All joking aside, I’m probably the least lonely I’ve been in my whole life right now (husband, kid, dogs, friends, job that deals with people, etc.) But I’ve definitely been lonely before, and it sucked. Being alone, though? Fucking love it. Spent most of today alone, and I’m in heaven.

      I appreciate you asking :)

I’ve never connected with an anime character quite like when the main character from Bocchi the Rock lamented the difference between the loner and the lonely

Ooh, I’m not familiar with that anime, is there a link where I could watch this part?

I worry that the way I put it makes it sound more serious than it is. Bocchi’s social anxiety is largely played for humor, and the scene I’m talking about is no exception. I can’t find the clip online, but here’s four screenshots of it. The scene takes place about 4:30 in the second episode

I highly recommend the show if you’re into anime and don’t mind subs. I’m not sure where you can legally watch the show, but you should definitely pay for your media, and not illegally stream it from any number of sites such as animeflix.live or watchcartoononline.io, or AniWatch.to
