California since 2017 has spent more than $4 million of taxpayer money on surgical sex changes and cosmetic “gender-affirming” enhancements for 157 inmates, including 4 on death row

This is 0.01% of CA’s prison budget so people can have access to counseling and a handful of people can have surgery so they’re not brutally raped in prison.

Having people come out of jail more fucked up than when they went in doesn’t help anyone. It just continues to the cycle of crime and violence.

Have those two 2 allegations been ruled on yet?

Also, it’s 2 allegiances, while this article also states:

The federal Office for Victims of Crime reports that 15% of transgender individuals report being sexually assaulted while in custody, with that number more than doubling, to 32%, for African-American transgender people.

No you don’t, because you want me to be forced to pay for it.

If my life circumstances were different I wouldn’t have ever been able to afford transition and I would be dead by now.

Rights are things you don’t have to pay to have.

Just like my aunt had to pay $130,000 for a kidney? I don’t know what country you’re in but yes that is how the American healthcare system works, you pay for the procedures you want/need. I genuinely meant no disrespect with the article, but healthcare isn’t a right for any Americans, especially free healthcare.

    And?

Prisoners are people, who deserve basic human decency. Losing their freedom and rights is the punishment for their crimes, not denying them healthcare. If the prison doctors provided it, they clearly deemed it necessary.

You going to post about how inmates on death row get flu shots and dental care too?

If you would have read the article, you would know that California doesn’t allow for root canals on back teeth, cosmetic tooth restoration or replacement, or treatment of oral ulcers—among other dental services, but if you want breast implants you can get that easily.

Yeah? And you’re implying that the fact that they can get breast implants is the problem, not the fact that the other treatments aren’t available? Come on.

Logical fallacy. False dichotomy. There is no direct connection between gender treatments and dental care. You could make the same argument about any other amenity that California doesn’t allow for prisoners.
