This will definitely change the game for me. Jerboa has been a nice stop-gap, but as a paid Boost user previously, I’ll be jumping back in with Lemmy too.
I didn’t have any problem paying before and I won’t have any problem paying for it again.
Yep, same. I have some expectations how the UI should behave (like boost did) and I’m certain Ruben managed to copy the UX to the new boost.
Well, the code was remade from scratch in order to be fully compatible with Lemmy. I guess that Infinity for Everything (formerly it was a Reddit client) will be compatible fully with kbin and Lemmy.
Thunder for Lemmy
Afaik Infinity for Everything is a fork. Unfortunately, the official app is still a Reddit-only client.
I’ve tried jerboa, liftoff, andd connect. While they all work none of them do everything I want and they all have weird quirks.
The more lemmy apps that comeabout the better.
Thunder for Lemmy has been pretty decent so far.
That’s the best compromise for me but it still have some quirks too : the search function is still limited, gesture-only interactions is weird and a few features are missing like deleting posts, jumping to a comment from your notifications, …
Scrolling for me is terribly choppy. Can’t use it, gives me a headache
The latest nightly on GitHub made some big performance leaps, would highly recommend checking it out!
Awesome thanks for the heads up! Will check it out
Voyager, formerly WefWef is a pretty stellar interface for being web based. I’m able to install it as an application, and feels native on my phone.
Does connect have search comment feature (Ctrl+F on browser basically)? RIF had that feature.
Liftoff has been great so far, but if this can have anywhere near the polish of its reddit counterpart, I’ll have no issues switching. I really want that compressed mode. Looks like RiF almost
Absolutely. That compressed old-reddit view is what I used to use in boost all the time.
Not sure what version you’re on, but the “compact” view in Liftoff now (I’m on version 0.10.9) is actually compact:
I gotta agree with this. I was a RiF user for some years. So far I have Connect, Thunder and Liftoff. Of the three apps; Liftoff has provided the closest I have to the RiF experience. Boost doesn’t look that much different, but I’m gonna give it a shot seeing as how many peoples on here sing Boost’s praises
Are there plans for RiF to develop something for lemmy?
Never for the life of me understood why Boost wasn’t mentioned alongside the other popular apps. It’s perfect. The only one I’ve used. All of my internal monologue feedback about Jerboa and Wefwef can be categorized under “Be Boost.”
Twas awesome!
I’m ever hopeful we might have a Lemmy Is Fun app one day,but there’s been so much chatter about boost I’m excited to try it.
They should just rename it to Lemmy is Federated. It’s the same initials!
This is such a good idea!
I think in one of his closing posts the dev for RIF said he was developing a Tilde app
Hmmmmm. I’ve not tried Tilde yet. I just went all in on lemmy during the rexodus. I’ll have to check it out.
It’s tricky to try out since it’s invitation-only. As far as I understand they want to focus more on long-form content and high-effort posting, so it’s not really a Reddit alternative per se.
As for Lemmy is Fun, it doesn’t look particularly likely, though talklittle (the dev) at least made a Lemmy account , so your prospects are at least better than fans of Baconreader. Maybe the future chances are at least non-zero, provided Lemmy continues to grow.
I wouldn’t get my hopes up, though.
Joey for Lemmy or bust
I’m gonna bust once sync is out.
I’m currently testing out connect and it seems a lot like infinity. Swipe to go from post to post and a lot of other customization. I didn’t like liftoff because of it but that might change. If boost can do this I might try it.
I really, really like connect. But I’m in a sub for a word game, and the only way to spoiler the screenshots (so that I can read the clues, but not get the answer) is to NSFW tag it. Connect still shows the unblurred images, even if I choose to have blur turned on. I’m on Jerboa until that gets fixed. Since you use connect, have you found a problem like that with yours?
Man. I just looked at the preview pictures of boost for Lemmy in the play store and it looks so freaking good.
I absolutely cannot wait.
I was looking forward to it but after i saw the data collection section i gave up.
That is pretty standard for an app that has ads an in-app purchases.
Is it? Why would it need access to my purchase history? Is this for supporting in-app purchases?
To see if you purchased the app. You have to keep in mind that these descriptors are very broad and even a miniscule use of one requires it be disclosed.
Oof. That’s looks very bad indeed. Is it oficially released yet? I’ve seen it before on beta/test versions of apps to ease debugging. Public release versions are usually very different regarding data collection needed.
Let’s hope so, the Lemmy will probably manage to kill it fast if that’s in the actual release!
Excellent, can’t wait!
We are more than ready to take off, pre-registered on the play store from the start!!
If you need beta testers, let us know! Used Boost for Reddit for years, can’t wait for Boost for Lemmy!
Oh yeeesssssss. Boost was all I used.
gif which ended up being too large. Click to show.
The rocket has landed
I honestly don’t know which app I’m gonna end use it, I never feel this way with Reddit clients but between Thunder, Voyager, Sync and Boost for Lemmy I can’t really chose, am I a psycho because I’m actually thinking in cycle them?
I’m cycling through 5 right now: Jerboa, Liftoff, Thunder, Connect, and Voyager.
They all seem to be improving so quickly, that I end up being unable to decide. I was on mostly Jerboa, but now I’m mostly on voyager. I like being able to selfhost it.
You should settle on Liftoff because some of my code is running in it!
Or not. But it’d be pretty cool if you did.
I’m mostly between Connect and Voyager, but as a close option Summit and then Thunder.
I feel Thunder has the best UI of all, but it is missing the mark as read post while scroll and hide read posts, those are key features for me and both the other three implements them in a good way.
I really really like Voyager and its breakneck release schedule but it’s definitely missing stuff that a native app would have, like notifications.
Yeah, definitely, I still have hopes dev releases a proper app for Android (and iOS) it would be a killer app for sure.
Not at all. I cycle through three right now.
Nice
