I loved everything about this movie as a kid, but especially this swinging, scat-filled tune. Years later when I’d grown, I found my love for other similar artists, including Cab Calloway, Slim Gaillard, Benny Goodman, and yes, Louis Prima. Thanks to Disney, the Sherman Brothers (song writers), Phil Woods and Prima for the kid friendly introduction.

I am like you-oo-oo because man, I wore that record out. Put the platter on repeat and binge listened. Not my intro though, Herb Alpert’s Whipped Cream and Other Delights was my first jazz album. Also my father had a few Ahmad Jamal records, some early Nat King Cole and several swing compilations. I think I still have the Nat 78’s in a box somewhere.

Well, of course it was that record. The only jazz my dad had was the Benny Goodman Carnegie Hall concert on really badly scratched 45s and those George Shearing “Black Satin” type things. I bought my own LP copy of the Carnegie Hall concert in 1985 and have been collecting ever since.

Early Nat King Cole trio sides are so good.

I was born in 87 but this was one of my favorite songs too. I heard in Portuguese first when I was a kid (PT-BR voice actors are the best BTW) and when I grew up I watched the movie in English and loved the original version too. I have it in my favorite songs in every audio apps I use. Cartoons are the second main reason I like jazz, the first is that jazz sounds like bossa nova which is the genre I grew up listening to because of my father’s music taste.
