He will run and the supreme court wont shit about it by citing some bullshit legal ambiguity. Democrats in the house will whine and then say they can’t do anything about it while waving small little signs to show their indifference.

Republicans are already ignoring constitutional amendments like separation of church and state with teachers having to teach the holy bible in Oklahoma. The right doesn’t even need to rule something as unconstitutial the supreme court simply ignores them

The argument made for Trump being able to run for a 3rd term is that he didn’t have two consecutive terms. The rule of law in this country is a joke. Nobody is held accountable for any crimes, if he runs nobody is going to stop him.

The constitution is an living document. The founding fathers created it as something that changes with the times. As long as the law is amended to the constitution it can’t be ruiled unconstitutional because it IS a part of the constitution. It takes a 2/3rds majority to amend the constitution and the president has to sign off on it though I think the pres can be sidestepped with a super majority vote. Amendments can be removed too with enough votes. If congress and the president decided that our government wanted turn into a monarchy then they would need to amend a monarchy into the constitution and they’d have to vote on removing term limits from the constitution. If congress decided that every one has a right to a free Nintendo switch 2 then that could be amenended too and then every american would receive a Nintendo switch. Anything can be amended!

Federal law isn’t part of the constitution and the supreme courts can rule any law unconstitutional of it violates any of the amenents. Abortion was never amended and thats why states can get away with outlawing abortion while other states can allow it.

This system only works if the checks and balances are actually working and the laws are enforced. The founding fathers knew the system would break down one day and thats why we have the second amendment.

I wonder where the republicans that take the constitution so litterally are right now? If I understand right, there’s a difference between full on MAGA-cultists and actual replublicans. It’s clear the democrats are worth fuck-all at this point so I’m keen to see if there are republicans with integrety. Or you know, the democrats getting their shit together.

Trump getting elected after this term will result in JD Vance becoming president, I’m almost completely sure of that.

He’s already old as fuck and declining. No way he’d be mentally fit to run in 4 years, let alone finish a 3rd term.

He wasn’t mentally fit this time and that didn’t stop the hordes of magas lining up to vote for him. I have no doubt that they’ll be fine voting for the weekend at donny’s version of trump.

Technically, he could run as VP with the explicit plan to have the actual president step down as soon as they’re in.

But I don’t know if Trump would even be down for that. He just wants to run for a third term full stop.

There is a part of the constitution that prohibits someone that has completed 2 terms as president from being vp afterwards.

My understanding is because of the way its worded that it could be generously interpreted by SCOTUS to favor Trump running as VP. I can’t remember the specifics but I remember reading such.

The 12th amendment prohibits anyone disqualified from running for POTUS from being VP. It’s quite clear.

I believe death by an AR-15 bullet is considered dying of natural causes in America.

Hopefully Trump dies of a natural cause, tonight.

Remember when Obama was asked if he could run for a third, and he said he couldn’t because it’s not allowed. Imagine a President who respects the law, the Constitution, and the will of the people via Congress. Irony is that it was Republicans who put in place the term limits, so Trump is even against his party’s previous mandate.

I also remember republicans freaking out about how Obama was going to run for a third term and declare himself king even though there was absolutely no indication that anyone thought that was a good idea. He was just popular and they couldn’t handle it.

I mean Obama did drone strike an American citizen without due process but respecting some laws is better than none.
