Do conservatives still believe he isn’t actively trying to destroy the country? Or, worse, believe that a generation of uneducated Americans is somehow going to make us a better country?
I’m sincerely curious.
If conservatives could read instead of being dumb as fucking bricks they’d be so angry!
Let’s see how long it takes until you dumb mother motherfuckers wake up to what you did. I don’t think it’s going to happen, plenty of people you snowflake can continue to blame. Never took responsibility for anything and you won’t start now.
As a rich white guy my heart goes out to all the people that will be hurt over this administration. And hopefully we can repair everything that will be destroyed. I have very little faith after they elected this orange piece of trash a second time.
Good fucking job
Conservatives think what they are told to think.
It was founded in 1980. It’s not exactly an ancient institution, the power would go back to the states.
We’ve all seen how red states run their education departments even when there are guidelines they have to follow. They just funnel all the public tax dollars into private schools and let the plebs wallow in idiocy.
Have no idea how accurate that comment is, but could very well be true. If DOGE does a good job (and I hope it will) - it shouldn’t only piss off the left wing bureaucrats.
They’re not. Everything DOGE is doing has been illegal. And they’re just removing money that provides services going to US so that Elon can give himself $400million contracts for his shitty truck that falls apart.
He’s manipulating you. Stop falling for it.
Yeah. Richest man in the world is spending all this time to gather a few more millions. You’re delusional. I follow the guy on X and it is 🍿 time every day. He is very responsive there and also responses to critique - great time to be alive 😁
A few more millions? You think that contact is the end of it? That artificially pumps up the value of his company even more, as investors will assume he’ll be able to continue giving himself lucrative contacts for his shit products.
But you’re right that’s all icing.
What he really wants is to gut all the agencies that make the regulations he doesn’t want to follow. You know how much it costs him having to have a safe workspace for his employees. How much not dumping waste in the nearest steam costs him as he’s forced to properly dispose of it. All those protections that hinder his ability to sexually harass his employees? Try to think. Seriously
And no consistency means a unreliable workforce.
My company struggles with hiring people because the employment pool in the southern states can’t do math. Like no joking they had to local training on fractions so they can do their jobs. That’s embarrassing as a country.
I honestly really doubt that. Yeah, there’s dumb ssses, sure, there’s people who don’t understand fractions, absolutely, stupid people exist, but to the extent that you have a hard time finding someone who can? No, I don’t believe you.
You’re literally arguing that making those people who don’t understand those things more common won’t be bad because you can still find some who aren’t morons. As if failing to educate more people won’t be a bad thing in and out itself.
More incompetent people means less competent ones. More incompetent people means more stress on welfare programs, lower average wages (which puts stress on the stability of your social security).
At least try to think one or two steps through the consequences of your own stances…
They’re already gutting those.
Yes, Republicans have been attacking education for decades. They’re creating a class system, and you’re not in the good one.
This isn’t the time for that. It’s time to coalesce.
https://www.history.com/news/department-education-andrew-johnson-reconstruction
The department, established in 1867, faced opposition from congressmen who associated it with education for the formerly enslaved.
That’s a different iteration.
That’s odd. Wikipedia has it at 1980. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Department_of_Education
I think he’s doing awesome. Closing down the dept of education isn’t going to magically and suddenly make kids ignorant. You realize that he’s not closing schools, right?
Not magically or suddenly, but deliberately and surely. Do you really think this is about saving money? Wtf do musk and trump care about government efficiency?
Not magically or suddenly, but deliberately and surely.
Where? Do you have a list of schools that are being shut down as a result of this?
^ This is the level of reading comprehension we can expect even more students to have after finishing school after this
I didn’t say schools were being shut down. I said that it will result in children being increasingly ignorant. Why do you think that they are shutting down the agency that regulates schools, to save chump change?
I said that it will result in children being increasingly ignorant.
How so? What are some examples of children becoming increasingly ignorant?
There would be less funding for schools, especially low income, special education, and rural. Less funding means more uneducated children. That is one example, but the DOE manages grants and loans, oversees civil rights and access, and national education standards and data. These are things that increase education accessibility and quality.
Meanwhile they’re drafting an almost 5 trillion dollar tax giveaway for the richest people in the country.
Real money saving group they are.
It’s almost like they were responding to the other bullshit claim you made.
And your attempt to misdirect is just pathetifc. Do you think people can’t read what you yourself wrote one comment above?
What bullshit claim?
The department of education is what distributes funding to schools and sets standards for educational guidelines. Without it, certain states can and will say “well this rural town doesn’t really need kids to go to school, they can become factory workers instead.”
Want proof? Arkansas just recently signed a law that helps increase child labor.
Without it, certain states can and will say “well this rural town doesn’t really need kids to go to school, they can become factory workers instead.”
Any news articles that show that schools are closing because the Department of Education is being DOGE’d?
Why would there be news articles about something that hasn’t happened yet?
So if it hasn’t happened, what proof do you have that it will? Why bring it up if it hasn’t happened, and there is no proof that it will happen?
It’s called being able to follow logical consequences.
Removing rules that the worst run state education departments have already been trying to bypass, won’t make those school less bad.
It’s called being able to follow logical consequences.
The news article doesn’t say that.
Not that I expect someone like you will care about the actual details but he’s only just done it so it’s going to take time for the effects to be felt. This might go over your head but government agencies are huge and complicated entities and when you rip out the heart it takes a while for the limbs to die. The states with robust economies like California, Texas, Illinois, and New York will be fine but poor states like Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi will be seeing school closings before the end of 2025 of this isn’t stopped.
Not that I expect someone like you will care about the actual details but he’s only just done it so it’s going to take time for the effects to be felt.
So you have no proof. Just predictions. This is a news article, not a prophesy piece.
Removing aid and oversite will have predictable consequences. Conservative motivations align with the predictable consequences, so it’s not a stretch to say that people will suffer because of this. You can’t have proof of something that hasn’t happened yet, but you can definitely predict. I would love to be wrong.
Notice what year that downward trend really got going… Mid pandemic. The worst students, not being physically in the building to keep them focused performing worse is a pretty logical conclusion. Also the insane right wing onslaught against public education and teachers, on top of the abysmal pay, forced out a lot of teachers. Now we have nationwide shortages.
